about: ‘No Win Situation’ was my experience with an oh so very attractive and willful woman whom I dated for a short while. She was all that I ever wanted but everything I shouldn’t have. Drama engulfed her at all times, and for a while I was sort of addicted to it, but soon came to realize that to pursue a relationship with her was in the short and long run not in my best interests. That time I got lucky not getting the girl, and by disappearing before I got sucked into the vortex of her turbulent life. Still it was nice for a long moment to be engulfed in her all-consuming flame.

'The Island' producer Stephen Barncard asked Valerie Carter to sing harmony with me on the chorus of ‘No Win Situation’, and that was a a stroke of genious as far as I'm concerned, and as it turned out, a major treat. Valerie's known in the music world as a ‘singers singer’. Her voice has that rare soulful sound and it really meshed nicely with mine. As a soloist she worked with Little Feat's Lowell George, and Earth Wind & Fire. Valeire has also sung back-up vocals for Jackson Browne, and is currently one of James Taylor's backing vocalists.

Russell Ferrante is pianist and composer in the long time Grammy winning jazz group The Yellowjackets.

Barncard filmed a music video of this song back in 1989 and recently edited and released it.
