About the song:

I reckon this one might just be semi-autobiographical. Who says you can't teach an old dog a new trick?

Excellent support from Mike Ruff on Hammond organ and Wurlitzer. Bryan Kessler's guitar on the right is up to his usual grits and gravy soulful licks. AT is on the left playing rhythm guitar.

Bassist Jimmy Johnson's main gig is with James Taylor. He has recorded with many artists including Ray Charles, Aaron Neville, Stan Getz, and Roger Waters to name just a few.

About the recording:

Recording wiz Brian Wohlegemuth - who happened to be on island mixing a project with mix master Mike Shipley - recorded the vocals up at at Steel Ranch Studios up in upper Kapaa. That was wonderful, a real recording studio with a live-wire engineer. I sang about three or four takes on this song and it was done - well done all but for the editing. You can bet I was doing my best to channel Marvin and Sam when I laid this vocal down.
