About the song:

Once agian the theme here is about opening ones self to the mystery. Might have been talking to myself here, but it definitely started out as a conversation I was fixing to have with a certain tentative sweetheart of a woman who, regardless of her distance, was doing a pretty good job of getting under my skin. As was typical for me at the time, the lyric would carry an underlying theme having to do with one's inner journey.

Guitarist David Anderson currently runs a successful piano tuning and restoration business in Los Angeles, and gigs and records from time to time.


About the recording:

'Unlock The Heart' was recorded in 1982 in the same session and studio as The Gift. Barncard produced and recorded, and the musician line-up was the same as well, with David Anderson playing some scorching fills and lead guitar on his Strat. Armondo on bass is absolutely smoking on this track. I played my Gurian jumbo acoustic guitar, which can be heard on the left side. For me there is some great energy in this track due to the live juice in the room and the great players really into the tune. All the boy's are simply in the pocket. Love the way the instruments were recorded; sounding real and right in your face. Not too terrible a vocal either, and the double scatting on the end was a kick. When you have a track like this to sing on it's such a joy, just a take or two will do it.
